Access by public transport
Trams: Line 11 and 12 (Stop: Römer / Paulskirche)
The Römerberg is designed with cobblestone and runs slightly sloping towards the Main.
Subways: Line U4 and U5 (Stop: Dom / Römer)
Depending on the subway car type used (approx. 12-17 cm) between platform and subway or level entry.
Because of the structural redesign of the Dom / Römer area, it has unfortunately been necessary to close the elevator to the underground station Dom / Römer until the end of December 2017. Thus the subway station Dom / Römer is no longer accessible for passengers with reduced mobility.
Alternatively, you can get off at the Willy-Brandt-Platz underground station, as the station is wheelchair-accessible with elevators.
From there, turn right and then turn left in the street Alte Mainzer Gasse, pass the Archeological Museum left hand, until you reach the Römerberg.
You can access the entrance building of the Historisches Museum Frankfurt via a lift on the right, next to the stairs.
Elevators can be found as well in the new building as in the old building of the Historisches Museum Frankfurt. The elevators have got an entrance area with 90 cm door opening. The elevators all feature low-level controls for wheelchair users and sublime and high-contrast buttons.
Alte Mainzer Gasse 4
Berliner Straße 25–39/Neue Kräme
Seitenstreifen vor Seufzerbrücke A26
The elevator leads directly to the cash desk in the entrance building of the Historisches Museum Frankfurt (level 1).
Wardrobe / locker
For the operation of the lockers a 1 Euro coin is necessary. There are four wheelchair-accessible lockers near the elevator.
